Ohio considering guns on campus
(as I’ve said before, given the massive amounts of drinking and drugging that goes on on college campuses, this is an insane idea, but I’ll leave that out for now)
What people are dreaming of is a scenario where some nutjob pulls out an AK-47 (lets not dwell on the fact that you can get AK-47s…) and starts blowing away students. Then, the hero who has his glock on him puts a bullet in the nutjobs head.
Which is all good and well (in some bizarre sense).
But lets not imagine this is a movie.
In real life, our hero pulls out his gun and suddenly there are more bullets in the air than before. Our hero didn’t have to get training on being a marksman, or how to return hostile fire, or anything. He just didn’t commit a felony (more or less). So now we have two people firing weapons.
God forbid another hero-to-be pops up.
I don’t know what the solution is to this crazy-gunman-shooting-up-classroms is, but MORE guns in the classroom isn’t the solution. If it is, then shouldn’t every student be issued a side-arm? Shouldn’t everyone in a high crime area (say, where drive-bys take place) be given a 9mm?
