Louisianna Eugenics!
Of course, poor pretty much means black, so that’s an added bonus…oh, and you’ll notice it says nothing about giving vasectomies to men…
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that state Rep. John LaBruzzo (R) said yesterday that “he is studying a plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have their Fallopian tubes tied.” LaBruzzo worries that people receiving food and housing assistance “are reproducing at a faster rate than more affluent, better-educated residents”:Sphere: Related Content

According to the most recent study, abortion is now fulfilling the eugenic vision of Planned Parenthood’s founder,Margaret Sanger, and blacks are disproportionately getting abortions which reduces the black population.
Given the data, I am curious to hear from those who oppose this legislation and yet support abortion. Isn’t this the ideal Pro-Choice legislation? Why doesn’t the ACLU celebrate this as an opportunity for women to make decisions about their reproductive rights and even profit from their choice?
Also for those who advocate for population control to save the planet, is this not the kind of legislation you would like to have passed so we can reduce our carbon footprint?

Conspiracy theories aside…
The difference here is…well, if the government decided to start paying people to switch from one religion to another, we’d be outraged. Not because we shouldn’t have the freedom to do so, but because the government shouldn’t be encouraging people one way or another. Further, any time you bring money into it, you are basically targeting the poor, which is also unfair.
What if, say, we paid people who weren’t very tall to not breed? Or maybe people who weren’t very smart?
Who would be most likely to accept the offer? Short rich people or short poor people?
Obviously, the smarter thing to do would be to provide birth control to these women for free. They could go and get one of those long-lasting varieties if they wanted. And they probably would.
That is a completely different ballgame. There’s no undue pressure by the government, and, unlike getting your tubes tied, this wouldn’t be an invasive procedure that has limited chance to be reversed.
Of course, you know this, but decided to try and twist things around to suit your own ends, which goes with your whole conspiracy theory of abortion.
I suspect you belong to that bizarre group who sees pro-choice liberals as running around forcing abortions on people who don’t want them.
It comes down to choice.
You don’t like people having choice because they might choose things you don’t like.
