Official Google Blog: The Pope on YouTube

Today we’re delighted to announce that the Vatican has launched a dedicated YouTube channel.

To find out more about why the Pope has taken the decision to interact with YouTube on a regular basis, here is a short introduction from Father Federico Lombardi, S.I., Director of Vatican Radio, the Vatican Television Centre and the Holy See Press Office.

Why? Well, I can only assume it is a way of reaching out to young people that doesn’t involve a felony and subsequent cover-up.

That aside, attempts by the Catholic church to remain relevant when it refuses to acknowledge that we no longer live in the dark ages are really just pathetic.
The world is moving forward, albeit slowly at times, and most folks (in the west at least) are only passingly aware of this schizophrenic, misogynistic, homophobic, and generally hate-filled organization and its shameful history.
