No, it wasn’t the McNuggets
I’m surprisingly annoyed about this story.
Every media outlet is picking it up (including the smoking gun) and making it sound like the woman called the cops because she was denied McNuggets.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I can’t say there weren’t times when I would have reacted the same. Those were dark days in my McNugget relationships.
But thats NOT what happened. The woman gave the McDonalds employee money for McNuggets. The employee then told her they were out. The employee offered other options but REFUSED to return the woman’s money.
The woman was, in fact, ROBBED (or, at least, scammed).
Did this warrent a 911 call? Probably not. But it was, in fact, a CRIME! This really isn’t much different, except in scale, of Madoff. Money was exchanged with a promise of goods and services and then no such goods and/or services were forthcoming.
