After a long hiatus

I am returned!

Anyhow, a few things spring to mind before I actually start letting myself be informed about the world again (yes, I admit it, living in a box is very nice).

1. The two most under-rated bands of the 80s: Oingo Boingo, Missing Persons

2. If you hate your PC now, switch to a Mac and then try using the PC again.  You know no such hate.

3. Marvel Studios should just close their doors and give it up if they don’t bring Favreau back for Iron Man II.  Current rumor is that there’s a lot of penny pinching going on.  Favreau made them a blockbuster.  Don’t get me wrong, Downey was great, but it was Favreau’s film.  Unfortunately, there’s a class of moron that gets to make decisions about movies who really thinks that anyone can make a flick, and that the actors only matter because the public sees them.  Marvel has made mistakes before when letting money people make decisions (see Spider-Man 3…the money guys demanded Venom), and this could really kick them in the nuts.  No matter how much it costs to keep Favreau, its gotta be cheaper than making a bomb.

4. Metal Gear Solid 4 rocks.

THAT’S who I want singing the next Bond song.

So, I was thinking.  Who should sing the next Bond song.  Maybe…maybe…maybe a doped up drunk who spends most of her time teetering on the line between rehab and jail who regularly gets into well-publicized fights, blows off concert dates, and wanders down the street barely coherant.

And I said to myself: Yes, thats who we need.

Cloverfield DVD

So, it comes out today.  Different stores are carrying different extras.  I find this very annoying.

Further, there’s no real word on a Blu-Ray release.  In my dream-world, the Blu-Ray will have everything.  I doubt my dreams will come real.

Mel doesn’t want you to know HOW rich he got from Jesus

Well, I suppose it really doesn’t look very good to get filthy rich (or, I guess, filthier richer) off of the suffering of your Lord.  Of course, it could also be that he’s unchristian in his greed and doesn’t want to share.  You make the call.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mel Gibson, who’s being sued by a writer over payment for the “The Passion of the Christ” screenplay, wants to keep financial information about the blockbuster movie out of the public eye.

Benedict Fitzgerald claimed in his February lawsuit that Gibson misled him into accepting a small payment for writing the script by saying the movie would cost between $4 million and $7 million.

Fitzgerald, who shared screenwriting credits with Gibson, claimed he agreed to “a salary substantially less than what he would have taken had he known the true budget for the film,” which the lawsuit claimed was $25 million to $50 million. The lawsuit claims fraud, breach of contract and unjust enrichment, and seeks unspecified damages.

In court filings Tuesday, attorneys for Gibson and his production company asked the court to seal the movie’s financial records and only allow Fitzgerald’s lawyers access to them. The information details the movie’s domestic and foreign box office receipts, production costs and distribution expenses.

The defense is also seeking to dismiss some of Fitzgerald’s claims, including fraud, which if proven would allow Fitzgerald to seek punitive damages.

I really hadn’t thought about The Dark Knight this way

This is from an interview with Maggie Gyllenhaal about working on the Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight.
I knew all these people were in it, of course, but I never sort of put it together that this is an insane cast for a super-hero movie
I can’t tell you how much I loved the first one, and how excited I am for this one.
GEEK-GASM!

EXCL: SHH! Chats Up Maggie G. on Dark Knight - Superhero Hype!

I anticipated it was going to be much different than making a small movie, and in the end, it didn’t feel that way, and I think it was because I was working with really good actors like Gary Oldman and Michael Caine and Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart and Heath Ledger. I
