So, for those of you who missed this, a City Councilman in Asheville, NC may lose his seat because he is an athiest and, apparently, that makes him a second class citizen.  Not just socially, but legally.

That has riled conservative activists, who cite a little-noticed quirk in North Carolina’s Constitution that disqualifies officeholders “who shall deny the being of Almighty God.”

So, the BSA probably thinks that the below says “Those homosexuals and atheists forced us to do this”.  Personally, I think it says “Our bigoted and hateful attitudes have been rejected by modern society so we have to scramble just to exist in a world that doesn’t want us”.
But thats just me, I suppose
Scout councils defend logging of their lands

“The Boy Scouts had to suffer the consequences for sticking by their moral values,” said Eugene Grant, president of the Portland, Ore., Cascade Pacific Council’s board of directors. “There’s no question” that the Scouts’ anti-gay, anti-atheist stance has cost the organization money, he said. As a result, he said, “every council has looked at ways to generate funds … and logging is one of them.”

His (Gene Robinson) invocation was a broad endorsement of progressive Democrat priorities, going so far as saying, “Bless this nation with anger – anger at discrimination, at home and abroad, against refugees and immigrants, women, people of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people….Help him [Obama] remember his own oppression as a minority, drawing on that experience of discrimination, that he might seek to change the lives of those who are still its victims.”

I can only assume that, if these are progressive Democrat stances, that conservative Republican stances are the opposite. Right?
That would mean, just to be clear, that Republicans are pro-discrimination against blacks and women, for example.  And here I was thinking that they were trying to put all that behind them.
